That Will Never Work - Trailer By Unreal Brands – That Will Never Work: Trailer | Anthum

A cinematic trailer inspired by Marc Randolph’s book That Will Never Work. I approached it as a restrained founder drama, not a classic success story. I wanted to focus on the fragile moment before an idea becomes obvious, when it is still awkward, doubtful, and hard to defend. The trailer moves through experimentation, friendship, private doubt, early traction, growth, and the moment where success starts to feel distant from the people who created it. Visually, I aimed for a grounded, cinematic tone inspired by The Social Network and Moneyball, with tactile late-90s details, natural performances, composed framing, and a quiet melancholy underneath the business story. The ending, Reed at the NYSE, Marc watching from the crowd, then the empty vault office, became the emotional center of the piece. For me, the film is not only about proving that an idea can work. It is about realizing that once it does, it may no longer belong only to you.
